Wondering what to do with your already vaped flower (AVF)? Here’s a simple guide to turn it into infused butter or oil using any fat of your choice.
What You'll Need
- Already vaped flower (AVF) 10g
- 1 Cup Unsalted butter, coconut oil, olive oil, vegan butter, or any fat of your choice
- Cheesecloth or fine mesh strainer
- Saucepan
- Airtight container for storage
- Filtered or distilled water (for decarboxylation)
Instructions
Step 1: Decarboxylation (Activating the Cannabinoids)
To activate the cannabinoids, you need to decarboxylate your AVF.
- Soak the AVF (optional): Soak the AVF in filtered or distilled water for 24 hours to remove any impurities
- Preheat oven to 105°C (220°F). Spread your soaked or unsoaked AVF evenly on a baking sheet
- Bake for 30-40 minutes to fully activate the cannabinoids
Step 2: Infusion
Now it’s time to infuse your AVF into your chosen fat
- In a saucepan, melt your chosen fat (butter, coconut oil, olive oil, etc.) over low heat
- Add your decarboxylated AVF to the saucepan
- Simmer on low heat for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally. Don’t let it boil
- Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly
Step 3: Straining
- Place a cheesecloth or fine mesh strainer over a clean container
- Carefully strain the mixture, pressing the plant material with a spoon to extract all the infused liquid
- Discard the leftover AVF and cheesecloth
Step 4: Storage
- Transfer your infused butter/oil to an airtight container
- Store in the fridge for up to two weeks, or freeze for longer shelf life

Repurposing your AVF into infused butter or oil is a simple, sustainable way to elevate your cooking. Whether you’re a seasoned chef or a beginner, this easy method will add a relaxing touch to your meals. Enjoy!
